[RUN]it - ART UPDATE

It's gotta work, and it's gotta look pretty...

As previously stated in other devlog posts, we have our world pretty much set in stone for the game. That however, has to be translated into the game somehow. Our Lead Artist, Stephen, has been working hard on creating different elements of the game to allow players to experience the story and gameplay in an equally immersive and detailed setting.

The current consensus is that to begin with, we want to create an early tutorial/setup level and two fully fledged levels to be completed after. The idea is that all levels will conform to the same modular style of level design, allowing the player to interact with the levels in a similar manner, albeit they will look entirely visually different. This is to give the player the feeling that they are still playing the "same game" but experiencing the different levels as if they were unconnected parts of the "simulation".

STIM CITY:

Stephen has been working on some of the modular assets for our fist game world - Stim City. It takes place at night and takes queues from the neon vibes of movies like Bladerunner and the stereotypical 80's/90's chillwave and synthwave aesthetic. We're drawing heavily on the use of neon and dim lighting to create the atmosphere in this biome, using Blender for the modelling, Stephen has been creating models with their modular nature in mind, so that we can easily create new paths/routes within the level for the parkour elements implemented into the unity project. This biome will be used as the tutorial level for the player, as its strict, linear cityscape style will lend itself well to the linear form of teaching mechanics we will be applying.

Overall, we're happy with the progress so far. More work needs to be done for smaller environmental aspects of the game and of course for the other levels, but we feel there is certainly scope for the assets to be implemented soon.

Check back soon for more updates, public playable build coming soon!
